What’s The Cost of Long-Term Care and Home Care in Connecticut? [STUDY]

Cost of Assisted Living Services

One of the top questions we receive from clients – if not THE top question – is asking how much care will cost. While costs vary due to individual circumstances, there are general resources to provide a good benchmark for clients when comparing different options.

Fortunately for residents of Connecticut, the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management publishes a report summarizing costs for long-term care. This study is based on an annual survey of skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, and non-medical home care agencies across the state. Having this report is a great first resource. Family members, or individuals planning for their own future care, can start to identify potential costs for the care they would prefer, allowing for more adequate planning and better decision making.

While there are some exceptions, most services are increasing year after year. For instance, skilled nursing facilities’ daily rates have increased by almost 2.5% since 2018, with a daily average rate of $432. A notable decrease in surveyed charges is in homemaker and live-in care, both services that Assisted Living Services, Inc provides. We continue to be a cost-effective option for personal, high-quality in-home care.

The full report for Private Pay Long-Term Care Rates is available online at the State of Connecticut Office of Policy and Management.
